I have officially been here in the Netherlands for three months. It feels like I have been here for ten minutes, but also feels like I have been here for 5 years... if that makes sense. Leiden is totally home for me. I find myself getting so sad that I only have another two and a half months to be here. My friends are quickly becoming friends I will have for life, and I wish so badly our little group could just move straight back home to Flagstaff.
When I travel here I find myself not craving my home in Phoenix or Flag, but my home in Leiden. And I am so grateful for that. I had a meeting yesterday with the international exchange coordinator and she asked what my highlights were and I couldn't pick just one thing. I know this isn't everyone's experience (someone else in a meeting had been crying saying they couldn't wait to get home) so I am really happy my experience has been so positive.
It is crazy how an experience like this can shape you. It really puts the world into perspective, and has helped me see that it is in fact really small. I am so sad that my days here are numbered, but I am also really excited to get back to reality in Flagstaff and see how my outlook on certain things changes.
My boyfriend is visiting this week and I am SO excited. We have King's day and a trip to Budapest and Vienna to look forward to.
