King's day was this week!!! So the Netherlands has a king, King Willem, and we celebrate him and his family on April 27th (last year there was a queen so it was queen's day). It is insane. Luckily, I live 20 minutes from Amsterdam, so we got to party on a boat in the canal for the day! We woke up at 7, biked to our friend's house and had mimosas (orange), with orange donuts, orange wine, and pancakes. Then we hit the train to get to Amsterdam and found out boat. We didn't realize, but we stood in line waiting for the wrong boat. In this time we missed our boat. So they boarded us onto the wrong one, found the right one, and got us as close as possible to it. We had to literally jump ship to get on the right one. We spent the day with unlimited beer and ridiculous orange outfits and it was so fun.
My boyfriend arrived on Wednesday and got to experience it all, and that was so great.
This day is one everyone should experience once in their life, it is insane.
