Hungary & Austria

Alex and I went to Budapest, Vienna, and Semmering!!

We flew to Budapest super early, and took the bus and the metro into town. Met a super cool guy from Romania traveling entirely alone, with no phone, and only a paper map- at first we were like "WOW that is crazy go you" then we thought about how 10 years ago cell phones were barely a thing, so lots of people must have done it haha. We walked all over the place and found a super cute restaurant to eat at. We got to our airbnb and settled in, cooked dinner, and enjoyed being in Budapest. The next day we saw it all- the holocaust museum, all the beautiful and historic buildings, and the thermal baths.

The next day we took a Flixbus (best bus company), to Vienna Austria. I had to pee sooooo bad getting on the bus but we were scared we would miss it, so I asked the driver if I could run in to use the restroom while he checked tickets and he said no, so I suffered through the ride. Vienna was WEIRD when we got there- like a ghost town. It was a Sunday, but NOTHING was open. It seemed like we were the only people in town, super eery. Regardless, it was super pretty.

The next morning we woke up at 5:30 to hit the alps in Semmering. The Semmering railway is a UNESCO world heritage site, and deserves the title. The trip is beautiful. We hiked up a little and enjoyed wine and snacks for a little while before making the journey back for our flight back to Amsterdam. I won't ever forget that place.

Alex and I travel so well together, because we don't care too much about hitting the touristy hot spots all in one day, and really spending time traveling just sitting and enjoying being where we are. If you can travel with someone, you're good for each other, right? ;)
